Ahhhhh....Summer in the Northwest !

The past few days have been so full I am very behind in posting the daily activities.
On Thursday....
We left the RV at 6 am and drove to Ana Cortes to catch the Ferry to Vancouver Island/Sidney.
We got to Ana Cortes earlier than we thought, we did a drive through coffee shop and got in line for the Ferry, to leave for Vancouver Island BC at 8:15.
Loaded the car on to the ferry. Locked the dogs in the car and went up to take our seats on the ferry.
It was a nice ride. We arrived in 2 hours and went through Canadian Customs, had them hand stamp our passports...and on we went.
First stop...To run the dogs....right around the corner from customs was a beautiful park at the water front. Locals were walking their dogs too :-)

We drove to Burchart Gardens. This is the most beautiful garden I have ever seen.
55 acres of flowers, plants, trees, shrubs.... A photographers paradise !
We went straight to lunch which was at the home which serve a delightful afternoon tea. Complete with finger sandwiches, little tea cakes, delightful.
We did not have 'the tea' we did enjoy soup and quiche. Delicious !
After lunch, we walked the entire path through the different gardens, Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, Italian Garden.....just beautiful.
Really, you literally ooooh and ahhhhh all the way through this garden.
As we ended our stay, we went to the gift shop, and the rain came ! A downpour ! Thank goodness we made it through the park in time.

It was about 4pm when we made it back to check into our hotel.
In Sidney. A nice hotel on the waterfront that allows dogs. The dogs were also allowed at the park but we did not take them in. They stayed in the car.
As you can see...Very Dog friendly !

Our hotel was great ! We were greeted by Dave 'the house mascot' a Black Lab. A guide dog that didn't quite make the cut. A handsome lad.
Both Jack and Jorge liked Dave.
Our room overlooked the little street shops of Sidney.
The dogs could look out and enjoy some fresh air with the sliding doors that opened.

We left them in the room and went down to the Street Fair/Farmer's Market going on, on Thursday nights.
We walked that, Mark stopped and bought a bottle of wine and I went to the local market to check it out. We met back in the room and had some wine. Then went to dinner.
Nice break from the RV.
To bed about 10 pm It was a fun filled day in British Columbia.

Friday morning woke up in Sidney BC, Vancouver Island. We enjoyed a relaxing morning in the room. Then went to a local coffee shop up the street to Serious Coffee.
Then to the Ferry to load up.
This was a long process as we went through customs on BOTH sides of the borders. Canadian and U.S. Customs. Long lines on a Friday. Got back to Ana Cortes at 1:30pm

We planned to drive Farm to Market Road back to Chuckanut (Larabee State Park) where we are staying for the week.
We were so hungry, as it was way past lunch ! The first stop, a dairy farm, we bought a small piece of cheddar cheese and a glass pint of chocolate milk ...mmmmmmm
We visited with the roosters, and a turkey...the cows and horses too.
Farm to Market Road was wonderful. As we drove down this country road, these locals were selling everything from corn, fresh dairy cheese, fresh flowers...at the end of their driveways...
Then we come to a little town called Edison. On the corner of Gilmore Rd. is Farm to Market Bakery.
We hadn't had lunch, so we went in. We had the most amazing soup !
Made with Coconut milk, cayenne pepper, peanut butter, rice and chicken.
We sat outside at the picnic table and enjoyed !
We then walked to Tweets, a soda fountain/coffee shop/Art Gallery/produce market/Antique store !
We bought the freshest green beans I have ever seen...picked fresh just hours earlier.
We walked down to the Bread shop, bought a loaf of bread.
Then to Slough a cheese and meat shop.
This is such a wonderful area....we planned our dinner around the things we bought.

When we got back to our campsite, we walked the dogs to a field here at Larabee, where they could run and play frisbee....
